@Nico
(It's probably already planned to be done in this way, but just in case).
I think that an efficient way to do this, which is also easy to follow for the user, is to use work with the Fixture personalities in a similar way as with the FX.
- have a menu-item, as with Setup, Midi, Groups, ..
- this then opens a window where you can add, modify and delete a Fixture Personality (FP). And also save and import (as .xml)
- clicking 'enter' on a file in the list, then opens a second window, where the fixture personality can be modified/build.
This way, you can probably re-use some of the code behind DL
Also, by having the possibility to save and import the file as (.xml), it can easily be shared amongst users. (Send via email, uploaded to a server,...)
The other step that is needed, IMHO, is how to patch fixtures n the 'rooms'.
Ideally, it would be possibly to tell DL that you want (for example) to patch 4 Fixtures "XYZ", starting at circuit 123. DL would then see (from the personality file of 'XYZ', that each of these needs 13 channels, and patch the channels with the fixtures parameters (pan, tilt,...).
Perhaps DL could also tell :
"Okay, I have patched these as requested.
Please set the starting addresses to : 123, 135, 148 and 161.
In binary (dip-switches), this is : 001111011, 010000111, 010010100, 010100001"
Looking forward to have this feature
( just bought 2 more moving heads).
Best regards,
Noël

@Noel,
it's more or less the design i've made for fixture personnality creation.
I didn't thought about dip-switches utility, neither the massive channel assignation...

), but it think it would not be too difficult to implement, and a nice 'extra'.
You could assign the fixtures one by one, but if you have a dozen or more of the same fixtures (e.g. PAR56 LED) (I have
, then you would need to make the calculation (starting addresses) manually, and tell DL where to put them. I'm lazy , and I prefer the computer (software) to help me figure it out :blink:
But of course, this feature is not something that needs to be in the first version(s). It can be added later.

There are plenty of (free) utilities to convert from decimal to binary (and it's a good exercise to do it manuallysl1200mk2 wrote: @Noel,
